Another day, another new period set project for us: as Deadline reports, British Drama Republic has won a heated battle for Sarah Collins'THE CONFESSIONS OF FRANNIE LANGTON which is out this spring in bookshops. It explores the beautiful and haunting tale about one woman’s fight to tell her story.
The book is set in early 19th century London with the plot following heroine, Frannie, a slave turned servant who travels with her owner from a Jamaican plantation to 1800s London, where she finds herself accused of the brutal murder of her master and mistress. Sarah Collins' debut novel will be turned into a mini TV series by the Doctor Foster and Black Earth Rising producer.

Paramount TV is preparing the adaptation
Meanwhile, Paramount Television has teamed up with The Alienist producer Cary Fukunaga and The Watchmen director Nicole Kassell to turn James Fenimore Cooper's classic historical novel THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS into new period set mini TV series! With the script penned by Fukunaga and Kassell behind the helm, THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS series will be a retelling of Cooper’s  novel about French and Indian Seven Years War that re-centres the classic tale on the unlikely romance between Uncas, a young Mohican, and Cora, the mixed race daughter of a British colonel.
