'EDGE: THE LONER' TV WESTERN WITH RYAN KWANTEN AND MAX MARTINI IN THE CAST

Not much to report today, it's been a very slow week! Netflix has announced a number of pilots which could turn into series if audience likes them. Among them is western EDGE: THE LONER set in 1868, with Max Martini playing a Union officer turned cowboy, who prowls the post Civil War American west doling out his own peculiar brand of justice. Australian superstar Ryan Kwanten and Yvonne Strahovski round up the cast.

CHRISTINA RICCI IS 'Z'

Meanwhile, Christina Ricci will lead Z playing Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, the original Jazz Age 1920s icon. It follows her passionate and turbulent love affair with and marriage to writer F Scott Fitzgerald (Gavin Stenhouse) and their lives as a famous couple. 'SHADOWHUNTERS' TRAILER

Meanwhile, although its movie version didn't score huge success a few years ago, Cassandra Clare's bestselling fantasy saga MORTAL INSTRUMENTS is being turned into a TV series SHADOWHUNTERS and ABC Family has released its first teaser

trailer with some extremely cheesy acting in it. To air some time next year, it will follow young Clary (Katherine McNamara), who discovers on her birthday that she is one of the Shadowhunters, human

angel hybrids who hunt down demons. The kidnapping of Clary's mother sparks the young girl to go demon hunting with fellow Shadowhunter Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and her best friend Simon

(Alberto Rosende). The cast will also include Alan Van Sprang as villain Valentine Morgenstern, with Maxim Roy, Emeraude Toubia, Matthew Daddario and Harry Shum Jr also starring.

'UNDERGROUND' EPIC SERIES

Well, we haven't had a fashion world set drama in a long time on TV and 'Deadline' reports that DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and AMERICAN CRIME star Felicity Huffman might lead the cast in HOUSE OF MOORE, a dark one hour comedy which will also be executive produced by her.

Written and to be directed by Daniel Barnz, HOUSE OF MOORE is said to be similar in tone to ''The Devil Wears Prada'' and will explore plus-size fashion. It centres on the sexy, twisted lives of an iconic fashion family, looking at our beauty obsessed culture through a darkly comedic lens.

KATE WINSLET GOES WW2

IN 'THE LIVES OF LEE MILLER'

Deadline writes today that our most beloved British star Kate Winslet is set to venture into a World War 2 project after accepting the role of Lee Miller in a feature about the acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue who during World War II chronicled such seminal events as the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris and the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau. Based on THE LIVES OF LEE MILLER, a biography written by her son, Antony Penrose it will describe Miller's life of a model, the muse for such artists as Picasso and Man Ray, who distinguished herself in Europe as a photojournalist.

'OBSIDIAN' YA SAGA

TO GET MOVIE ADAPTATION

In the news about new book adaptations, Sierra Pictures will turn Jennifer L. Armentrout's YA novel OBSIDIAN into a movie! The first of the five book LUX series, it follows bookish Katy Swartz who moves with her mother to West Virginia, resigning herself to thick accents and a boring life. She is hopeful after meeting her neighbours who are a shot of life, and the brother and sister tandem becomes even more interesting when it turns out they are aliens. When she falls for the brother and he touches her, it marks her as a homing device for an army of extraterrestrial bad guys.

Set in the 26th century, ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL follows an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard by a doctor. The rebuilt Alita, remembering only her training in a deadly martial art, becomes a hunter warrior, tracking down and eliminating vicious criminals. As 'Deadline' writes, in the form of an epic adventure movie, the story will explore a young woman’s journey of self-discovery and finding love.

Although only a brief time ago I've reported that Kate Winslet will star in Yorgos Lanthimos period set drama THE FAVOURITE, it seems that after she accepted the role in WW2 movie THE LIVES OF LEE MILLER, her role might go to Rachel Weisz who already worked with the director on THE LOBSTER. She would play countess Sarah, THE FAVOURITE confidante of Olivia Colman's Queen Anne while Emma Stone would be an impoverished, distant relative of Sarah, who gains a position at court tending to the Queen! Weisz already has another period set movie MY COUSIN RACHEL among her future projects.

THE PLOT OF THE MOVIE

Anne Hathaway will portray a woman who moves back to her hometown after losing her job and boyfriend, only to discover that she is somehow strangely connected to a giant lizard monster that materialized over Tokyo and is wreaking havoc on that city. Austin Stowell will play Hathaway's love interest, while Blake Nelson will portray a character named Garth, who has a drug problem that he doesn’t do a particularly good job of hiding.

Tim Blake Nelson has recently stepped into the helmer's seat and directed Christina Ricci in ZELDA Amazon series while Austin Stowell is playing a pilot in this week's released Spielberg's movie BRIDGE OF SPIES and is starring in TNT's PUBLIC MORALS. 'GUARDIANS' ZASCHITNIKI

FIRST RUSSIAN SUPERHERO FILM

Now, who says them superheroes can be found only in Hollywood? Some of them are soon to appear in Mother Russia where only this summer they finished shooting highly expensive superhero movie THE GUARD- IANS (aka ZASCHI- TNIKI) directed by Armenian director Sarik Andreasyan! Set during the Cold War a Secret organization named "Patriot" gathered a group of Russian superheroes in order to defend the homeland from supernatural threats. It includes

representatives of the different nationalities of the Soviet Union, which each one of them have long been hiding their true identity! The $20 million movie is out December 2016!

THE WILDMAN
Russian star Anton Pampushniy will play Arsus, Wildman, a form of berserker or werebear, who has the ability to transform himself into a

bear, though he can control how much of his body is transformed and can transform partially if he wills it. Superstrong, loyal and determined, he "breaks the enemy into small pieces".

THE WINDMAN

Russian star Sanzhar Madiev plays Khan the Windman. Masterfully skilled with all kinds of knives, and specialized with many

kinds of martial arts. He is primarily armed with twin, crescent blades with the efficiency to cut clean through thick fabric, as well as human

tissue and bone, without any difficulty, often allowing him to kill instantly with one swing of his weapon.

THE LANDMAN
Playing Ler or Landman is Sebastian Sisak Grigoryan. He is armed with all forms of earth manipulation abilities, such as seismokinesis, terrakinesis and geokinesis, which make him a form of

earth bender. He is able to control stones and soil, collect dust from boulders, stop falling rocks, and move mountains.

THE WATERWOMAN

Xenia Waterwoman is played by Alina Lanina. Flexible and agile, she has the ability to move on water as if it is like solid ground, as well as

seamlessly move through it. This gives her higher mobility in water than the fastest, or most manoeuvrable sea creature. She cannot feel

'STAR WARS: FORCE AWAKENS'

As you probably know by now, Disney has released the final STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS trailer today marking the start of the ticket sales (and the crash of the internet for that matter) for the movie which is out December 17th, continuing the Star Wars saga where

'Return of the Jedi' left off, with Luke Skywalker who aims to restore the Jedi Order while Leia and Han Solo work with the New Republic against the remnants of the Galactic Empire and a new potential threat. The war is still raging across the galaxy. The Empire has morphed into The First Order.

THE FORCE IS WITH THEM
Oscar Isaac plays Poe Dameron who flies an X-Wing for a splinter group of the Rebellion now known as The Resistance. Other villains in the new movie include Domhnall Gleeson's General Hux, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma and Andy Serkis as

Supreme Leader Snoke. John Boyega and Daisy Ridley join Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron as new heroes Finn and Rey! Original stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are all returning. Lupita Nyong’o and Max Von Sydow also star.

'VICTORIA' EPIC TV SERIES

ITV has released the first photo today of Jenna Coleman as the ruthless British enslaver Queen VICTORIA in their new historical series which will

have a 90 minute opening episode followed by seven hourlong ones. Charting her early life from accepting the crown at age 18 till her marriage to Prince Albert, the drama will also have Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne, Victoria's first prime minister and her intimate friend which started many rumours back in the day. The ensemble cast also includes Paul Rhys as Sir John Conroy, the ambitious controller of the Duchess of Kent’s household, who controlled Victoria’s upbringing, hoping to

rule through her, when she came to the throne. Peter Firth is queen’s conniving uncle the Duke of Cumberland, and Catherine Flemming is the Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria’s mother. Eve Myles is Mrs Jenkins, the Queen’s senior dresser.

'OF KINGS AND PROPHETS'

LOUIS TALPE IS PRINCE ELIAB

In other news from epic TV series 'Deadline' reports that Belgian actor Louis Talpe has landed a season long recurring role on ABC’s midseason drama OF KINGS AND PROPHETS. Postponed for recasting and reshooting after a rather terrible first trailer, it is an epic Biblical saga of faith, ambition and betrayal as told through the eyes of a battle weary king, a powerful and resentful prophet and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny. Talpe will play Eliab, King David’s (Oliver Rix) proud and single minded older brother. King Saul is played by Ray Winstone while Nathaniel Parker is King Achish of Philistia!

FUNNY 'DAD'S ARMY' POSTERS

Meanwhile, a number of delightful character posters have been released for new British movie comedy DAD'S ARMY the remake of legendary BBC classic series which will march (or die trying) into

'THE DRESSER' BBC MOVIE

Hallow's Eve is closing up and with it the airing date of BBC Two's new TV movie THE DRESSER with Ian McKellen and Anthony Hopkins, which will also air later at Starz! The two of them are working together for the first time in the movie based on the famous play which tells the story of one fateful night in a small regional theatre during World War Two as a troupe of touring actors stage a production of Shakespeare’s King Lear. Bombs are falling, the sirens are wailing, the curtain is up in an hour but the actor Sir who is playing Lear is nowhere

to be seen. His dresser Norman must scramble to keep the production alive but will Sir turn up in time and if he does will he be able to perform that night? Emily Watson is also in the cast!

'DA VINCI'S DEMONS'

The third and sadly the final season of everybody's favourite epic TV show DA VINCI'S DEMONS starts tonight in USA at Starz and tomorrow around the world at Fox Internat- ional Channels! The final chapter will bring the end to the adventures of the medieval mastermind and his gang which brought the cast back for reshoots earlier this year when it was suddenly decided

that due to show creator David S. Goyer's busy movie schedule the series won't go on. However, he did say that there could be a fourth

season in the form of a mini series in a few years time which would be set 15 years after the end of the third season. Tonight's opening episode

brings us back to the 1480 Ottoman siege of Otranto which Leo will try to fight off in next ten episodes faced with the theft of his own

inventions. It is also interesting that all episodes will immediately be available for viewing for the subscribers of Starz' Play and On Demand platforms.
