'ANDORRA'THRILLER CASTS

Cast is shaping up for the movie adaptation of Peter Cameron's novel ANDORRA with Toni Collette, Gillian Anderson and Joanna Lumley joining Clive Owen! He plays Alexander Fox, a bookseller who leaves the U.S. after a personal tragedy to begin a new life in the tiny country of ANDORRA. He quickly becomes entangled with the ever present locals. Toni Collette is Mrs Dent, an Australian with a large dog and a volatile secret. Joanna Lumley is Mrs Quay, the kayaking matriarch of an Andorran dynasty who seems to recall Fox from long ago. He finds comfort in the company of her daughter, Miss Quay (Gillian Anderson), as the mystery of his origin deepens. When a woman’s body is found soon after Fox’s arrival, the local lieutenant becomes strangely convinced that he is responsible. With his past threatening to envelop his newfound paradise, Fox finds himself in a crisis of conscience and identity, in a foreign country from which he may never escape.

Talking about ensemble casts, 'Deadline' reports that Christina Hendricks has joined Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson, Max Irons, Stefanie Martini, Terence Stamp in the first movie adaptation of Agatha Christie's CROOKED HOUSE. Written by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, it follows private detective Charles Hayward who is invited to solve a gruesome crime where nobody is above suspicion, including Sophia, his client and former lover.

'EXTINCTION' SF THRILLER

After starting his career in one of the Dune adaptations and leading the cast in X Men, James McAvoy is returning to the science fiction genre again.

As 'Deadline' reported this week he is negotiating to take the lead role in sf thriller EXTINCTION in which the story revolves around a man haunted by nightmares in which his wife is assaulted and who becomes a hero when Earth is invaded by an army bent on destruction. James McAvoy would play a father and chief mechanic at a factory who realizes those invading might not be what he expected.

KEANU REEVES IN 'REPLICAS'

In other sf news, Alice Eve is set to star next to Keanu Reeves in REPLICAS in which she would play his wife who dies in a car crash but is then cloned, allowing her memories and mind to live on.

'RADIUS' SF MOVIE

Meanwhile, sf action will also be seen on the big screen in sf thriller RADIUS in which Diego Klattenhoff and Charlote Sullivan are set to take the lead roles. The Memento style thriller centres on a young man who wakes from a car crash with no memory of who he is. As he makes his way into town to look for help, he finds only dead bodies, all with strange pale eyes. At first believing a deadly virus is in the air, he soon discovers the horrific truth which sets in motion an unbelievable chain of events.

The Medici family suffers a great loss with the death of its patriarch Giovanni (Dustin Hoffman). When the designated heir Cosimo (Richard Madden) discovers that his father was poisoned, he decides

to keep the news to himself and tries to get on the assassin’s trail. Cosimo, who has long abandoned his dream of becoming an artist, then

takes his father’s place as head of the bank and of the Signoria, where he needs to defend himself against the hostility of the noble families. When the Duke of Milan annexes the city of Lucca away from Florentine

dominion, Cosimo must decide whether to side with the nobility, as Giovanni would have done, or to free himself from his father’s shadow!

'ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS'

The greatest of news, people! One of our most beloved Irish hunks Jamie Dornan is in talks to star in ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS according to 'The Hollywood Reporter'! The not so great news: he won't be playing the hood wearing Robin even though he is kinda the biggest star in the cast. If he accepts the role in the film in which young Tarton Egerton is to play Robin, Dornan would play Will Scarlett!

In Lionsgate's version of the Robin Hood legend, to be directed by Otto Bathurst, Jamie Foxx will play Little John and Eve Hewson will portray Maid Marian! Jamie Dornan would play Will Scarlett, one of Robin's brave Merry Men who is the hot headed wearer of fine clothes and the best swordsman of the bunch. In this version of the legend, which starts shooting in Hungary in January, he is Marian’s husband, who will be none too happy when he learns that she loves the outlaw.

Two trailers for you today, the first one for a new Keanu Reeves drama movie THE WHOLE TRUTH

which is out next month. Defense attorney Richard Ramsay (Keanu Reeves) takes on a personal case when he swears to his widowed friend, Loretta Lassiter (Renée Zellweger), that he will keep her son Mike (Gabriel Basso) out of prison. Charged with murdering his father, Mike initially confesses to the crime. But as the trial proceeds, chilling evidence about the kind of man that Boone Lassiter (Jim Belushi) really was comes to light. While Ramsay uses the evidence to get his client acquitted, his new colleague Janelle (Gugu Mbatha Raw) tries to dig deeper. And he begins to realize that the whole truth is something she alone can uncover.

'PASSENGERS' SF TRAILER

The first trailer has also finally been released for sf adventure PASSENGERS with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence which takes place on a space ship transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet in suspended animation. The trip takes a deadly turn when Jim and Aurora’s (Pratt and Lawrence) hibernation pods awaken them 90 years before anyone else. As Jim and Aurora look into the malfunction, they fall deeply in love while the ship starts falling apart and they have to try and save the other passengers.The movie's launch is set a few days before Christmas this December. It is interesting that the above mentioned Keanu was the original star of this movie.

'DAMNATION' PERIOD SET

SERIES WITH ADEN YOUNG AND LOGAN MARSHALL GREEN

Here's a new period set series for us: USA is preparing a pilot episode for DAMNATION TV series, an epic saga of the secret history of the 1930s American heartland, chronicling the mythic conflict and bloody struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed, charlatans and prophets.

The pilot centres on Seth Davenport (Aden Young), a man masquerading as a small town Iowa preacher in the hopes of starting a full blown insurrection against the status quo. Focused on his mission, he is unaware that an industrialist tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker named Creeley Turner (Logan Marshall Green) to stop the uprising by any means necessary. But unbeknownst to those around them, these two men already share a secret bloody past. Also in

the cast are Sarah Jones as the preacher's wife, Chasten Harmon as a Machiavellian prostitute, Christopher Heyerdahl as the local sheriff, and Melinda Page Hamilton as one of the strikebreakers.

Another delicious piece of news comes from the upcoming remake of famous LOST IN SPACE sf TV series which will be toplined by Toby Stephens!

The ten episode series to air at Netflix in 2018 follows the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded in space light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons. Toby Stephens will play the father, astrophysicist John Robinson, the expedition commander, little Maxwell Jenkins will play his youngest child with Taylor Russell as his eldest daughter! Dracula Untold scribes have written the scripts for the new show!

'SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE'

ED SKREIN IS VILLAIN IN

'ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL'?

I've gotta admit we've kinda lost interest for James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez' adaptation of ALITA: BATTLE ANGELS ever since the rather blah casting begun, but the

latest addition of Ed Skrein as the villain is at least some good news. Rosa Salazar is leading the cast which also has Christoph Waltz and Jackie Earl Haley.

Set in the 26th century, ALITA tells of a female cyborg that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals. As 'Hollywood Reporter' writes, Ed Skrein will play a character named Zapan, a villainous cyborg who is in possession of a weapon called the Damascus blade.

'REIGN'SEASON 4 CASTS

MAX LLOYD JONES AS CAPTAIN SIR FRANCIS DRAKE

In the whole army of handsome hunks that have already joined the fourth season of CW's epic series REIGN, here's a new blue eyed one: Max Lloyd Jones is to play Sir Francis Drake one of Queen Elizabeth's (Rachel Skarsten) admirals and knights. Not that everybody saw him as a knight: although he lead many expeditions around the world, he also inaugurated an era of piracy in Americas and was one of those who defeated the Spanish Armada in 1588.

As I told you before, Will Kempis joining the season as Queen Mary of Scots' (Adelaide Kane) second husband Lord Darnley, Adam Croasdellis to play Bothwell, Mary's third husband, Steven Lundwill be Lord Luc, Lord Narcisse's (Craig Parker) dashing son.

'FALLEN'TRAILER

JEREMY IRVINE IS AN ANGEL

For all ya teens, the first trailer has been revealed for the big screen adaptation of FALLEN series following Luce Price (Addison Timlin who seems as lifeless and bland as that zombie chick from Twilight was), a seventeen year old living a seemingly ordinary life until she is accused of a crime she didn't commit. Sent off to the imposing Sword & Cross reform school, Luce finds herself being courted by two young men (Jeremy Irvine and Harrison Gilbertson) to whom she feels oddly connected. Isolated and haunted by strange visions, Luce begins to unravel the secrets of her past and discovers the two men are fallen angels, competing for her love for centuries. Luce

must choose where her feelings lie, pitting Heaven against Hell in an epic battle over true love. Joely Richardson also stars in November 17th flick.

Our beloved British TV star Colin Morgan, whom we just watched this year in The Living And the Dead period set series and Humanssf series, has joined Rupert Everett's Oscar Wilde biopic THE HAPPY PRINCE which stars not only Everett as well, who is also writing and directing, but Colin Firth as well!

THE HAPPY PRINCE, which has the story set in the last days of legendary writer Wilde as he lies on his death bed and the past floods back to him, transporting him to other times and places, will also have other acting legends in the cast including Emily Watson, Tom Wilkinson and Miranda Richardson!

A lot more gloomy is the first trailer for World War II drama ALONE IN BERLIN which arrives next month directed by French actor Vincent Perez and starring Emma Thompson, Brendan Gleeson and Daniel Bruhl.

Based on a true story, which served as an inspiration for Hans Fallada novel, ALONE IN BERLIN is set in 1940 following a working class couple in World War II era Berlin, Otto and Anna Quangel, who decide to resist Adolf Hitler and the Nazis, after receiving the news of the death of their only son. They start writing postcards to urge people

While half of the United Kingdom is swooning over his brooding expressions and dashing hairdo and royal uniforms on Sunday evenings as he plays Prince Albert in ITV's Victoria epic series which is battling for ratings against BBC's Poldark, it seems Tom Hughes will cross over to the rival BBC to take the lead role in their three part thriller series PAULA which will, also starring Denise Gough, focus on the suspense and chaos that suddenly appear in a young chemistry teacher’s life after her hot one night stand with a good looking but dangerous man.

'JUMANJI'SEQUEL CAST PICS

'THE CROWN'EPIC SAGA

In the trailer department, a long new one has been released for Netflix $100 million expensive ten part drama THE CROWN which will follow the life of the current Queen Elizabeth II from the moment she stepped on the throne. Arriving this November it will depict her marriage with Prince Phillip played by Matt Smith and her relationship with many politicians including Winston Churchill played by John Lithgow. Claire Foy plays the lead role in the first season set in the 1950's at the beginning of Elizabeth's rule. Oscar winner Stephen Daldry directs.

'LOST IN SPACE' TV REMAKE

MOLLY PARKER JOINS TOBY STEPHENS IN THE SF SERIES

A week ago I reported that Maggie Smith's son Toby Stephens is to play the lead role in the TV series remake of LOST IN SPACE and now he has a wife: Molly Parker will play the female lead in the Netflix sf series about the Robinson family, who is stranded in space light years from their intended destination, battling a strange new alien environment and their own personal demons. In the whole sea of the upcoming movie or television projects based on Agatha Christie's works (click on her name tag below the post to see them all), surely one of the most intriguing ones will be Kenneth Branagh's MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS and rumour has it that it might have a rather stellar cast: Judi Dench and Johnny Depp have been cast alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Daisy Ridley.

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS will see travellers stuck in the snowstorm in the middle of old Yugoslavia with a murderer in the train, with Branagh himself playing Hercule Poirot, Depp will be Ratchett, Pfeiffer is Mrs. Hubbard, Daisy Ridley is Mary Debenham. Judi Dench will portray Princess Dragomiroff, and Lucy Boynton Countess Andrenyi. Tom Bateman will be Bouc, while legendary Derek Jacobi is Masterman, Michael Peņa is Marquez, and Leslie Odom Jr. will be Doctor Arbuthnot.

'COUNTERPART'SF SERIES

In the television world, Starz is casting for its new sf thriller series COUNTERPART which already has two 10 episodes season ordered! Harry Lloyd and Olivia Williams have just joined JK Simmons who leads the cast as Howard Silk a lowly cog in a bureaucratic agency who discovers that the agency he works for is really guarding a crossing into a parallel dimension. Through Howard and his Counterpart on the other side, the show will navigate themes of identity, what-ifs and lost love. Olivia Williams will play his wife, a mysterious woman whose secrets become the center piece of the first season’s story. Lloyd will be a director at Howard’s agency whose carefully calibrated career slowly begins to unravel as he sinks deeper into the world of espionage and double lives.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, right? The most translated book by a living author, Paolo Coelho's worldwide bestseller THE ALCHEMIST will be adapted into a big screen feature movie by Sony TriStar and Laurence Fishburne's production company who bought the rights for a very pricey amount! The book, which has been sold so far in around 65 million copies in 56 different languages, revolves around a young Spaniard who embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure within the Egyptian pyramids.

STILL STAR CROSSED EPIC SHOW

FINDS ITS LADY MONTAGUE!

Meanwhile, the latest one to join ABC's upcoming midseason period set drama series STILL STAR CROSSED a sequel to Romeo and Juliet story is Claire Cooper who will play Lady Montague, a master manipulator and a woman with a dark past and dangerous secrets, in the show that picks up where the story of Romeo and Juliet ends, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. Anthony Head and Zuleikha Robinson play lord and lady Capulet, Grant Bowler is lord Montague, Torrance Coombs is prince Paris, Wade Briggs is Benvolio Montague who together with Sterling Sulieman as prince Escalus and Lashana Lynch as Juliet's cousin Rosaline actually are the lead characters in the new love triangle.

NEW CAST MEMBERS FOR 'TERROR' EPIC TV SERIES

A bunch of television updates for you, today, a round up of telly news I didn't get to present you this week! I've already informed you that Tobias Menzies will star in the mini TV series based on Dan Simmons novel THE TERROR and now he is joined by Jared Harris, Ciaran Hinds, Paul Ready and Adam Nagaitis. Set in 1847, it follows Royal Naval expedition crew searching for the Northwest Passage where it is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crew in a suspenseful and desperate game of survival.

DYNASTY GETS A REMAKE!
Meanwhile, CW is planning a remake of famous TV soap DYNASTY. Done this time by Gossip Girls creators, and the original show creators the Shapiros, it will follow two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. It will be told primarily through the perspectives of Fallon Carrington, daughter of billionaire

Blake Carrington, and her stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into the family and America’s most powerful class.

JOHN LEGEND JOINS UNDER GROUND

And if you liked the first season of UNDERGROUND epic series which followed the destiny of black slaves in the Civil War America, you will be happy to hear that music star John Legend has joined the 2nd season cast as iconic abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who went from a slave to a writer and a speaker.

MARGARET ATWOOD'S 'HEART GOES LAST' TO BECOME A SF TV SHOW
While Hulu is preparing A Handmaid's Tale sf series based on Margaret Atwood's novel, another of her novels THE HEART GOES LAST will be made into TV series by MGM TV.

It follows a young urban couple who have been hit by bankruptcy in the midst of a nationwide economic collapse. Forced to live in their Honda, where they are vulnerable to roving gangs, they think the gated community of Consilience might be the answer to their prayers. If they sign a life contract, they’ll get a job and a lovely house for six months out of the year. On alternating months, residents must leave their homes and serve as inmates in the Positron prison system. At first, this seems worth it: They will have a roof over their heads and food on the table.
