'DOMINION' SF SHOW CASTS

TOM WISDOM AND CHRIS EGAN

In television news this Saturday, we have a lead actor for upcoming new science fiction series DOMINION which will be based on Paul Bettany's film LEGION. According to Deadline, Australian star Chris Egan (LETTERS TO JULIET) will headline the SyFy show as a maverick soldier who learns that he is the saviour of humanity! Set 25 years after the events of Legion DOMINION will explore the aftermath of a war between angels and mankind which has left the world transformed, with Alan Dale (OC, LOST) playing a general in the war who is now ruling over one of four surviving human cities. Archangel Michael, who was played by Bettany in Legion, will be played by brilliant 300 star Tom Wisdom!

'STARGATE' TO GET

MOVIE TRILOGY REBOOT

One of the best news that came to us at the end of the week was that legendary STARGATE science fiction movie will be getting a reboot in a form of trilogy over at MGM. Roland Emmerich had planned the original film to be a trilogy in the first place, but since the sequel needs to be immediately connected to the story of the first film and the original actors are now too old for the given story, he wants to shoot the whole saga from the beginning again. The original story had James Spader playing an egyptologist who worked on a alien device known as the STARGATE which then opened and took a team of soldiers and scientist on a travel across the known universe to a distant planet. Arriving on the planet, they found a culture ruled by someone pretending to be the Egyptian sun god Ra whom they had to fight against to save the Earth.

'ISLAND OF DR MOREAU'

GETTING A NEW MOVIE REMAKE

Speaking of remakes, another one will happen in the new modern movie version of famous ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU novel by H.G. Wells. To be produced by Warner Bros. and Leonardo Dicaprio, the big screen adaptation will follow a man who survives a shipwreck and finds Noble's Isle, and the enigmatic Dr. Moreau, a former psychologist who has created human-like animals on this deserted island.The new version will be crafted as a sci-fi film with a timely message about ecology.You probably remember the 1994. movie with Val Kilmer, Marlon Brandon and Fairuza Balk.

ROBOCOP REMAKE

Earlier this weekend, Sony Pictures has finally released the first exciting trailer for the fresh remake of famous 80's action blockbuster ROBOCOP and you can check it out below. Opening next year's spring season in cinemas the science fiction movie will start its theatrical life in February. The cast lead by THE KILLING's star Joel Kinnaman, and also including Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel, Jackie Earle Haley and Michael Keaton, has Jose Padilha as the director of this $100 million risky movie!

ROBOCOP TIDBITS

It took a lot of time for this remake to happen since it was first announced back in 2005 with Darren Aronofsky behind the helm. At first the studio wanted a big star in the lead role and Tom Cruise,

Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves were all rumoured for the role. Russell Crowe and Michael Fassbender were also in the run later on, with Hugh Laurie, Clive Owen, Ed Norton, Jessica Alba all mentioned for the supporting roles.

After irritating the hell out of the audience with a bunch of mindlessly short teasers (none lasted more than 5 to 6 seconds - it was one of their worst marketing campaigns ever), BBC has finally decided to show us a real longer trailer for their delightful new epic fantasy show ATLANTIS which will star airing later this month replacing the legendary MERLIN show which ended disappointingly last winter. Deadline reports that Kristin Scott Thomas has joined Maggie Smith and Kevin Kline in MY OLD LADY in which Kline plays a down-and-out New Yorker who travels to Paris to liquidate a huge apartment he’s inherited. But when he gets there, he learns he can’t take

possession until the old woman who’s living in the apartment dies. Scott Thomas will play Chloe, daughter of Smith’s Mathilde character.

NICOLE KIDMAN IS

QUEEN OF THE DESERT

And as if the extremely bad criticism on her new movie on late princess DIANA wasn't bad enough, Naomi Watts has lost a gig on top of that: her best friend Nicole Kidman (who also has a biopic on her own this year - on GRACE OF MONACO), has taken over her role in QUEEN OF THE DESERT! Werner Herzog's biopic on Gertrude Bell, also starring James Franco and Robert Pattinson (instead of brilliant Jude Law), is a story about the female explorer, writer, archaeologist and attaché for the British Empire, who is credited with helping to catalyse the formation of the Middle East at the dawn of the 20th Century! The female version of Lawrence of Arabia should start shooting next year in Morocco. I guess this means that Herzog has managed to beat Ridley Scott in the race to make a film about Bell, since Scott also wanted to do it but with Angelina Jolie in the lead role.

JASON SUDEIKIS, KIRSTEN DUNST

'SLEEPING WITH OTHER PEOPLE'

Deadline reports that one of the most charming comedians, Jason Sudeikis has a new role ahead of him: he will join Kirsten Dunst in SLEEPING WITH OTHER PEOPLE playing a good-natured womanizer who befriends a remorseful serial cheater (Dunst). Their platonic relationship reforms their chronic infidelity but sparks an inconvenient romantic attraction to each other. You have already heard that after this summers hit WE'RE THE MILLERS, Sudeikis is also set to reprise his role in comedy sequel HORRIBLE BOSSES 2!

WHO'S THE FLASH IN 'ARROW'?

GRANT GUSTIN OR MATT BARR?
In today's television news, rumours have started circling around who could be the actors playing The Flash in the second season of ARROW. As you know, The Flash will appear in a few episodes and will possibly get his own show later on. Rumour has it that young MattBarr (GOSSIP GIRL, ONE TREE HILL) and James Mackay are currently in the run for the role. The third candidate to play the superfast hero is GLEE's Grant Gustin!

DOROTHY MUST DIE SERIES
And in the sea of projects connected to Wizard of Oz, here's the latest one: Tim Kring, HEROES creator, will produce DOROTHY MUST DIE a fantasy show which would see Dorothy as a tyrannical dictator who rules over Oz with her henchmen, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. In this new version another young woman from Kansas is soon transported to Oz and finds herself pitted against Dorothy.

REEVE CARNEY, HARRY TREADAWAY JOIN 'PENNY DREADFUL'
Meanwhile, the casting continues for PENNY DREADFUL as well. Joining Timothy Dalton, Eva Green and Josh Hartnett in the 19th century horror series is Harry Treadaway (THE LONE RANGER) who will play Victor Frankenstein, while Reeve Carney will be supernaturally handsome Dorian Grey! Produced by JAMES BOND's Sam Mendes, the Showtime series will follow famous horror characters in Victorian London.

Now, I don't care what some cynics say, but HOLLYWOOD SPY has always enjoyed famous STEP UP dance movies. I just love the inspirational and positive atmosphere of those films, and you will agree that the last one, STEP UP REVOLUTION had the most spectacular dance choreographies ever seen on the big screen! You already know that STEP UP 5 is in the making and that it will be an all star movie gathering all the faces which became famous thanks to the previous parts of the franchise. Lionsgate has just confirmed that the new instalment, which will be set at a dance competition in Las Vegas this time, will have hunky Ryan Guzman from STEP UP REVOLUTION in the cast, alongside BrianaEvigan (STEP UP TO THE STREETS), Misha Gabriel Hamilton, and many other dancers/actors from the previous four movies. Sadly, Channing Tatum and his wife JennaDewan, who were the stars of the original movie, won't appear in STEP UP 5!

JAMES MCAVOY, DANIEL RADCLIFFE IN 'FRANKENSTEIN'

The Hollywood Reporter writes that two boys, James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe, won't be alone in FRANKEN- STEIN! DOWNTON ABBEY's Jessica Brown Findlay will now play the lead female role in the horror epic. In the movie in which Daniel Radcliffe plays the hunchbacked butler Igor while James McAvoy is playing Dr. Victor Frankenstein, in the revisionist take on the famous Mary Shelley's classic tale this time told from Igor's perspective, Jessica Brown Findlay will portray a trapeze artist who becomes close to Igor after he saved her life. Findlay also stars in another epic movie - WINTER'S TALE, next to Colin Farrell, Will Smith and Matt Bomer!

'OUTLANDER' EPIC SHOW GETS

CAITRIONA BALFE FOR THE LEAD ROLE

And as I've promised we finally have the lead actress for Starz new epic adventure show OUTLANDER! Gorgeous Irish top model Caitriona Balfe (NOW YOU SEE ME) will head the cast in the 16 episode series based on Diana Gabaldon's bestselling novels. As Deadline reports, she will play Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives. ROME's Tobias Menzies plays Claire's 20th century husband, while Graham McTavish (HOBBIT), Gary Lewis (BILLY ELLIOTT) and Duncan Lacroix (GAME OF THRONES) will play Scottish warriors, the uncles of Jamie Fraser.

'ENEMY OF MAN'

And in other news from the epic genre today, this one is a bit stale but you won't mind: earlier this week it has been announced that Sean Bean has set the date for filming his new film ENEMY OF MAN for January! It will be a new take on Shakespeare's MACBETH described as a retelling of a timeless tale of war, regicide, betrayal and untimely revenge. Although 400 years old, Shakespeare’s work feels truly contemporary: An ambitious childless couple; their longing for family replaced by a chilling pursuit of absolute power. Remaining true to its dark heart, the film will strip back the dialogue, crank up the action and produce an atmospheric and blood-soaked chiller. Sean Bean will have a rather amazing company in the cast which also includes GAME OF THRONE's Charles Dance, British thespians Jason Flemyng and James D'Arcy, and HARRY PLOPPER's Rupert Grint! Another version of big screen MACBETH will also be seen next year with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.

WILLIAM MOSELEY IS PRINCE

Earlier this week I've informed you that E! is planning their new scripted series THEROYALS in which Liz Hurley will play the queen of a fictional England, and now we have the prince too! NARNIA's star William Moseley will play her son, Prince Liam, the younger brother to the beloved Prince Robert. When Robert is killed in a military training accident, Liam is thrust into a spotlight. Sexy, charming and smart, he’s in love with a young American woman, Ophelia, who helps him cope with the loss of his brother and his new position as the next King of England. Liam bristles at the strict rules, which govern the monarchy: being told what to say, where to go and how to it. At the root of it all, Liam has lived in Robert’s shadow and worries that he is not a credible successor. The show will be a modern version of HAMLET dealing with power, wealth and desire.

One of the faces that have been in focus this summer due to the success of UNDER THE DOME show, Natalie Martinez, has just earned herself a movie role: according to 'Deadline' she will join Tarsem Sing's (IMMORTALS, MIRROR MIRROR) science fiction action SELFLESS as wife of Ryan Reynolds who leads the cast in the tale of a terminally ill billionaire who undergoes an experimental procedure to transfer his consciousness into the body of a younger man, only to be hunted by the killers who murdered his host. MatthewGoode and Ben Kingsley are also in the cast.

A new trailer has been released for one of the big movie awards contenders AUGUSTOSAGE COUNTRY which opens in November in USA. Starring Meryl Streep as a hard

drinking matriarch of a family, this comedic drama offers a look at the lives of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose paths have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Oklahoma house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them. Julia Roberts and Juliette Lewis play Meryl's daughters, Abigail Breslin is the daughter of Julia Roberts and Ewan McGregor, who plays Meryl's cheating son in law, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Sam Shepard, Dermot Mulroney and Chris Cooper also in the cast! It is interesting that Abigail Breslin even has a promise of a money award in her contract for this film if she gets any movie awards.

PADDINGTON BEAR MOVIE GETS

Now this is certainly shaping up to be a spectacular cast! Forthcoming PADDINGTONBEAR movie, coming from the

producers of HARRY PLOPPER, is gathering an outstanding cast including Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Jim Broadbent, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Boneville and others. In the film, in which everything will be live action except the CGI bear, Firth will lend his voice to the bear who comes from Peru in search of home and is named Paddington after the London station where he is discovered by the Brown family, played by Boneville and Sally Hawkins. Julie Walters will play their housekeeper Mrs Bird, with JimBroadbent portraying an antique shop owner Mr Gruber. Nicole Kidman will play an evil taxidermist! The film should be out Christmas 2014!

Meanwhile, CW has found their villain for the upcoming sf show TOMORROW PEOPLE in dashing gent Simon Merrells who played a villain in SPARTACUS too! Starting this October at CW, the show will see Merrells playing a powerful figure in the story which, starring Robbie Amell and Luke Mitchell, follows a team of young people with special abilities who represent the next stage of human evolution.

Speaking of epic stories, Relativity Media will make a movie adaptation of comic book ANOMALY from Skip Brittenham and Brian Haberlin. An epic adventure set in Earth's distant future, ANOMALY centres on Jon, a disgraced Conglomerate Enforcer, who is

given a last precious chance for redemption by leading a rag tag group of explorers on a first contact mission to a newly discovered planet. The mission turns out to be a deadly trap. Marooned and with all their

technology destroyed, the crew must rely solely on their wits to navigate the treacherous planet and earn the trust of the hostile, incredibly diverse, warring alien races if they want to have any chance to survive

and get back to Earth. Joe Roth (OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) is producing. The story is similar to STAR WARS in its epic scale.

VIKINGDOM EPIC MOVIE

Your special Monday treat for today is something from the epic genre: first trailer and posters for VIKINGDOM epic adventure of which we haven't really heard much before even

though it hits cinemas October 4th! Based on Viking mythology, the action packed historical movie will see TV star Dominic Purcell playing Eirick, a forgotten king, who battles from hell and beyond to retrieve the mystical artefact, Odin's Horn, before Thor, the God of thunder, and his army can unleash its powers to conquer the world. Thor is on a mission to gather the key ancient relics - "Mjolnir" - his hammer from Valhalla, "Necklace of Mary Magdalene" from Mitgard and the "Horn" from Helheim. This needs to be accomplished before the Blood Eclipse, which happens once every 800 years, failing which, the pagan Viking Gods will never be able to rule and conquer mankind ever again.

Only one man can stop him... Eirick, the undead. Thor is here played by Conan (funny, yes? :) Stevens, while the cast also has sexy Natassia Malthe as Brynna and Jon Foo as Yang, Craig Fairbrass as Sven

and Patrick Murray as Alcuin. The $16 million film is actually Malaysian (go figure) and directed by their helmer Yusry Abdul Halim, but is shot in English.

'THE WALKING DEAD'

GETS A SPINOFF SHOW & CHRISTIAN SERRATOS AS NEW CAST MEMBER

In today's television news, AMC has confirmed that they are preparing a THE WALKING DEAD spinoff series for 2015! Not much is known so far about the plot, but it will not be based on the comic books and will have entirely new set of characters and stories set in the same world populated by zombies. It is not known whether the new show would explore the origins of the zombie apocalypse or will just follow some other survivors in some other city. The fourth season of the original show starts October 13th and during the following week around the world. It was announced yesterday that the forth season will have new face in Christian Serratos who will play beautiful Rosita Espinosa who survived the mysterious undead apocalypse that has taken over the planet and, if she becomes a popular one, she could earn a regular cast spot in the fifth season.

SERBIA SETS 'CIRCLES' FOR

Serbia has selected deeply touching drama CIRCLES as their entry for Foreign Language Oscars! The moving drama, directed by Srdan Golubovic, scored critical

acclaim at Sundance this year and has won many awards at film festivals around the world. The story is set in the midst of the Bosnian war, when Marko a Serbian soldier witnesses the brutal aggression of Haris, a Muslim civilian, by three fellow soldiers. Marko interferes and saves Haris, but is beaten to death by the infuriated soldiers. 2008: the war is over but the wounds of the conflict are still open. Marko's father is rebuilding a church, he is offered help by one of Marko's killers' son and hesitates about accepting it. Marko's friend, a renowned surgeon in Belgrade, faces terrible choices when told to operate on one of the three soldiers on the verge of death. As for Haris, he now lives in Germany and is faced with a unique opportunity to repay his debt to his savior.

GRACE OF MONACO TRAILER

The first fresh trailer to arrive this week is also the first one for upcoming biopic GRACE OF MONACO in which Nicole Kidman, in a rather strange casting choice (Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron were originally considered for the role), plays famous Grace Kelly after she got married to Prince Rainier of Monaco. To open up in theatres November 27th, the movie will have the story centring on Princess Grace and the early years of her marriage to the Prince (Tim Roth), and how she helped solve a political dispute between France and Monaco and a looming French military invasion of the small princedom. The cast also includes Milo Ventimiglia, Paz Vega as Maria Callas, Derek Jacobi and Frank Langella.

The royal family of Monaco has officially proclaimed this film as needlessly glamorized and historically inaccurate! For them it is not a biopic! The same thing happened to DIANA biopic which, starring Nicole's best friend Naomi Watts, also got horrid criticism and was not supported by the royal family nor by the press and the critics.

In movie news today, 'Deadline' reports that Universal has hired EVIL DEAD's helmer FedeAlvarez to direct their movie adaptation of DANTE'S INFERNO video game. This action packed epic adventure will follow Dante Aligheri, a knight, who with the help of the poet Virgil ventures into the nine rings of hell to rescue his beloved Beatrice. In the process, he becomes an unwitting pawn in an ancient war between heaven and hell. This is just one of the many video games getting movie versions - NEED FOR SPEED, ASSASSINS CREED (with Michael Fassbender in the lead role) and WORLD OF WARCRAFT being some of the most famous ones.

Since we haven't had much news from Hollywood this week, we're focusing today on some delightful new television projects, starting with the beautiful cast pictures of ABC's new fantasy series

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND the spin-off show to their popular drama ONCE UPON A TIME. The story of the brand new show is set in Victorian England, where young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe) tells an impossible tale of a strange new land that exists

on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah-smoking caterpillar and playing cards that can talk, are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during her adventure. Surely this troubled girl must be

insane. Her doctors intend to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget — everything. Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever, the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot).

Another delightful project which you can already watch over at Netflix is DEREK, which begun streaming last week starring famous British comedian Ricky Gervais who is also the creator of this comedy-drama about a loyal nursing home caretaker who sees only the good in his quirky co-workers as they struggle against prejudice and shrinking budgets to care for their elderly residents! Capturing both sadness and humour of such a place, the sitcom is filled with kind and light humour and is rather unusual in today's world of offensive sitcoms and brutal comedy.

'LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX'

Yet another delightfully kind and warm show can be seen over at PBS where last week they started airing LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX, an uplifting comedy-drama about romance and second chances. Childhood sweethearts Alan (Derek Jacobi) and Celia (Anne Reid), both

widowed and in their 70s, fall for each other all over again when they are reunited after nearly 60 years. The celebratory tale of the power of love at any age is also a story about family — a family with baggage. Alan and Celia's daughters, whose dysfunctional lives bring drama at every turn, would never dream of getting in the way of their parents' happiness. But somehow they just can't help themselves.

It seems delightful and always funny Melissa McCarthy might get a superhunk for her partner in spy comedy SUSAN COOPER. 'Deadline' reports that British superstar JasonStatham might join the Paul Feig directed comedy in which the story revolves around an unlikely female secret agent, played by Melissa McCarthy. Jason Statham would portray a spy on the same side as the title character. Melissa McCarthy also has BUREAU OF OTHERWORDLY OPERATIONS (adventure about a secret government organization that protects humans from ghosts) and TAMMY (about a scorned women who takes a road trip with her drunken grandmother) on the list of her future projects.

Deadline also reports that Damian Lewis has joined Nicole Kidman in THE QUEEN OF THE DESERT. Werner Herzog's movie focuses on the writer, explorer and archaeologist Gertrude Bell, who is credited with the formation of the Middle East in the early 20th Century. Damian Lewis will portray Lt. Colonel Charles Doughty Wylie, an unhappily married British soldier who starts a turbulent affair with Bell between 1913 and 1915, before he was killed in active duty at Gallipoli.
ROBERT HOFFMAN IN 'SONGBYRD'

In TV news, Robert Hoffman from BH 90210 has joined E! new scripted show SONGBYRD in which Bethany Joy Lenz from ONE TREE HILL will play writer of hit love songs, who employs a small staff, including her sister Mickey (Rumer Willis), to enable and manage her eccentric yet wildly successful process. Hoffman will play Lauren’s creative affairs director who is helplessly in love with her, a fact she is clueless about. The show is based on the life of Diane Warren who wrote some of the biggest pop classics in history for Celine Dion, Toni Braxton...

In short movie news, comedy action SKIPTRACE, which already has Jackie Chan and Bingbing Fan in the lead roles, has just added Seann William Scott to the cast as well. Based on Jackie Chan's idea the film follows Hong Kong detective Bennie Black who has been searching for crime boss Victor Wong for ten years. His search escalates when his young niece Bai (Bingbing Fan) gets herself into trouble with the crime syndicate, forcing him to call on an American Gambler named Connor Watts (Seann William Scott) to help him in his search. The producers are counting on the comedic chemistry between Chan and Seann.
TOM HARDY IS ELTON JOHN

Meanwhile, the latest news say that Tom Hardy has taken the lead role in ROCKETMAN, the biographical movie about Elton John! It was previously revealed that EltonJohn has imagined his biopic in MOULIN ROUGE movie style, with visual splendour and tones of his greatest hits which he will be rerecording for this occasion. Hardy is an extremely versatile actor, and it will be interesting to see how he switches from his upcoming MAD MAX role to playing a gay singer of tender love songs with extremely eccentric fashion style. A TROUBLED PRODUCTION

HUNGER GAMES and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN star Sam Claflin was originally supposed to play the lead role (after Alex Pettyfer bowed out of the project) which later on went to Ben Barnes from DORIAN GRAY and CHRONICLES OF NARNIA PRINCE CASPIAN. At the same time Alicia Vikander took the female role only after Dianna Agron, Jennifer Lawrence and Imogen Poots dropped out. The movie had problems during the production and was postponed, partly because a visual effects studio which worked on the movie had a

bankruptcy and had to be saved by Universal Pictures. It will now premiere in January 2014 almost a year after its original release date.

WARCRAFT MOVIE ADAPTATION?

One of the exciting pieces of news this weekend came from 'Variety' which revealed that VIKINGS show star Travis Fimmel has become

the main candidate for the lead role in WARCRAFT movie adaptation! The project will have four main characters, and AnsonMount and Anton Yelchin, alongside Colin Farrell have also been mentioned for the roles. Scheduled for December 2015 the adaptation of the famous video game with a rich fantasy setting that revolves around the epic conflict between the opposing forces of the Horde and the Alliance in a medieval like world filled with gryphons, dragons, zombies, werewolves and elves!

FEMALE 'EXPENDABELLES'

TO HAVE MERYL STREEP, CAMERON DIAZ, MILLA JOVOVICH

Well, we have already seen the revival of old forgotten action stars in EXPENDABLES franchise which has had Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean Claude Van Dame, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Jackie Chan, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, WesleySnipes and others in the cast, and now producer Avi Lerner is moving on with the same thing but with female action heroines! Titled EXPENDABELLES, the film would see female action stars from the previous decades coming back from retirement for one last mission. According to first rumours, Lerner is negotiating with Meryl Streep, Milla Jovovich and Cameron Diaz to join this cast. While EXPENDABLES III should hit cinemas next August, EXPENDABELLES would start shooting some time early next year in Bulgaria. Other action ladies who could join the fun might include Linda Hamilton, Gina Davis, Michelle Yeoh, Sigourney Weaver!

Keanu Reeves appears as Kai, a half-Japanese and half-British man; the character was created for the film. Tadanobu Asano plays Lord Kira, the Shogun's master of ceremonies and the one responsible for killing the Ronin's master. Rinko Kikuchi portrays Mizuki, a lady who serves Lord Kira and has special magical powers. Hiroyuki Sanada plays Kuranosuke Oishi, the leader of the Ronin. Kou Shibasaki is Mika, the slain master's daughter and Kai's love interest. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa plays the Shogun! Jin Akanishi is Chikara Oishi, Kuranosuke's son. Rick Genest is Savage!

INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY

Epic adventure 47 RONIN is helmed by visionary director Carl Erik Rinsch (The Gift). Inspired by styles as diverse as Miyazaki and Hokusai, Rinsch will bring to life the stunning landscapes and enormous battles that will display the timeless Ronin story to global audiences in a way that's never been seen before. While the film is based on the true story of the forty-seven ronin, it is a fantastical take, being set "in a world of witches and giants"! The film will tell a stylized version of the legendary story, mixing fantasy elements of the sort seen in 'The Lord of the Rings' saga, with gritty battle scenes akin to those in films such as 'Gladiator'. Costume designer Penny Rose has said that although

the costumes are following the traditional style, the kimonos and other outfits will also have a fashion twist to them and will be very colourful. She previously worked on KING ARTHUR, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and PRINCE OF PERSIAN SANDS OF TIME.
